This open competition, the last sporting event of the season at the resort, takes place this Sunday, March 23.
The Pallars Alpine Snowboard is a project that was born from the desire to encourage snowboarding in Pallars.
The Espot Esquí resort, managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, will be the setting for the first edition of the Alpine Snowboard Pallars, an alpine snowboarding competition that marks the return of this modality to the Lleida Pyrenees after more than two decades. This competition will be the last of the season and is organized by the Pallars Sports Association. So far, the Pallars resort has hosted one mountain skiing competition, six alpine ones with around 720 athletes.
The day on Sunday, March 23 will feature two events: a giant, where riders will have four descents to achieve the best time, and a parallel, where they will be able to compete in pairs, without a time limit, in a fun and entertaining atmosphere. This open competition is aimed at participants of all levels and ages, with categories for children (7 to 11 years old, mixed), juniors (12 to 16 years old, mixed) and seniors (17 years old or older, not mixed). The minimum level required to participate is to know how to ski down controlled turns on a red slope. The event will also have hot chocolate and coca for all participants.
Alpine snowboarding returns to the Pyrenees
Alpine Snowboard Pallars was created with the aim of encouraging snowboarding in Pallars and creating a space for competition and fun for lovers of this sport.
This initiative aims to be an impetus for the practice of this sport and for the work of the technicians in the area, who will be able to have a motivating goal for their athletes. The competition seeks to offer a quality and fun experience for all participants, and consolidate itself as a benchmark event in the alpine snowboarding calendar of the Pyrenees.
