The 103rd edition of La Volta a Catalunya will have 7 stages of which two stages will pass through FGC Turisme terrain, with Vallter and Port Ainé being the end of two stages.
The third stage of the Volta a Catalunya 2024, which is celebrated on March 20, begins in Sant Joan de les Abadesses and ends in Port Ainé, with a total route of 180.6 km.
Port Ainé, a giant of 18.5 km and an average slope of 6.8%, rises as the great wall of the third day. Its maximum ramps of 15% and its altitude of 2,088 meters make him an implacable judge who could define the general classification.
The stage begins in the emblematic town of Sant Joan de les Abadesses, a few kilometers away we will reach the capital of the region, Ripoll. After passing through the capital of Ripollès, the first ascent begins, towards Port de Toses, a category 1 port. This port is the first of three ports that will mark the stage. From kilometer 45 begins a descent that will pass through the town of Martinet and Montferrer and Castellbò, which will be the lowest point of the stage.
From km 110, a double ascent begins, first with the ascent to Port de Cantó, with a descent to the town of Rialp. The Pallarès village is the last point before starting the ascent to Port Ainé.
In addition to the ports, the constant climb and descent of the profile will accumulate a positive slope of 2,760 meters, testing the resistance of cyclists.
The last 23 kilometers of the stage will be especially demanding, with a constant climb until the arrival in Port Ainé (Pallars Sobirà), a ski resort located 2,000 meters above sea level.
