Summer begins in Vallter with hiking, trail running and cycling proposals for all audiences

The Ripollès mountain resort will begin the summer season tomorrow, Saturday, June 29, and will remain open to the public until Sunday, September 1.

 

Among the main novelties of this season, the activation of the Ruta del Ter on foot and by mountain bike and the activities of the Fajol Club for children stand out.

Vallter will begin the 2024 summer season tomorrow, Saturday, June 29 and will extend it until Sunday, September 1. The most Mediterranean mountain station in the Catalan Pyrenees is located in a unique environment, with landscapes of absolute beauty in the glacial cirque of Morens-Ull de Ter and at 2,000 meters of altitude, within the Cabeceras del Ter Natural Park and of the Freser.

 

During the hottest months, the station near Camprodon will offer all kinds of activities and adventures to live a unique experience in the middle of nature.

 

Sports and nature in Vallter

This summer 2024 comes loaded with outdoor proposals designed for all audiences. Among the main activities, the trip with the Ter Panoramic Chairlift stands out, which takes visitors up to 2,535 meters high and allows them to visit the source of the Ter River. To round out the experience, and new this season, the purchase of the chairlift ticket will include the Legend of the Ter. In this way, during the ascent with the mechanical lift, which lasts about 20 minutes, you will be able to contemplate the alpine landscape, and see all the native fauna of the area, such as chamois, marmots or the bearded vulture, among others.

 

For the most adventurous, Vallter activates the Ter Route this season, which can be done on foot or by mountain bike. This is an itinerary that has its own card and the first stamp is placed at the Ripollès resort, which becomes the starting point. In addition, visitors will be able to discover the environment and the great variety of flora and fauna of the high mountains through the trail running circuits, since Vallter shares the technical and demanding routes of the La Marrana Skyrace, which will be held on Next September 8th.

 

At the same time there are other itineraries, either going down the paths towards the lower part of the station or heading towards the peaks that surround Vallter, Pic de Bastiments (2,881m), the Gra de Fajol (2,714m), the Pic de la Dona (2,702) or the mythical Vallter-Núria route. Another notable proposal is the new Marmotes Route, which will take visitors through the most notable points of the station, such as the source of the Ter river, the ruins of the old shelter, and the Puig dels Lladres viewpoint.

 

Road cycling is one of the great attractions of Vallter. It has a special category mountain pass, 12 kilometers and nearly 1,000 meters of elevation gain, considered the cycling peak of Catalonia that connects the town of Setcases with the mountain station. In addition, during the summer you can participate in the 'Vallter time trial, the roof of Catalonia' challenge organized through the FGC Turisme club on Strava and win different prizes. Additionally, for all those people who ride a bicycle to Vallter and take a photo at the Cycling Photocall, they will receive a gift bottle.

 

Furthermore, coinciding with the start of the season in Vallter, the Gran Fondo Pirineus cycle tour will visit the station on Sunday, June 30. A perfect complement to welcome summer, with an unbeatable cycling atmosphere. In addition, the climb to Vallter will be rewarded with some cycling bottles from the Vallter Mountain Pass.

 

Family activities

But the offer does not end here, since Vallter also has a wide range of family proposals. One of the most notable developments of summer 2024 is the activation of the Fajol Club, a new initiative in which children will be able to stimulate creativity, foster appreciation and respect for nature and learn about the high mountain environment. Some milestones that they will reach through the discovery of the Ter River, the climb with the Panoramic Chairlift, the Marmots route, the orienteering circuits or the Fajol gymkhana, with which children will be able to obtain the Fajol Club card and a keychain. from the squirrel Fajol as a gift.

 

With the activity of the Orientation Circuits, participants learn and relate to the environment, culture and heritage of the valley, doing physical exercise. Up to three circuits can be done: Morens Circuit, Marmotes Circuit and Bastiments Circuit. This is an activity aimed at everyone: families, athletes, counselors, hikers...

 

Families who travel to Vallter will be able to enjoy healthy proposals in the middle of nature. On the one hand, they will have family hiking routes at their disposal to explore unique and exceptional landscapes of the Catalan Pyrenees and, on the other, they will be able to enjoy the free guided Discovery of the Ter outings with a specialized guide where topics such as fauna and flora will be explored. singular nature of the natural space, the geology, the beginnings of Catalan hiking, the Ter River, as well as other aspects of interest in the area. These outings will take place every Saturday in August.

 

Vallter is also the gateway to the Cabeceras del Ter and Freser Natural Park with an area of ​​14,750 hectares, distributed among the municipalities of Planoles, Queralbs, Ribes de Freser, Pardines, Vilallonga de Ter, Setcases and Molló, all of them. located in Ripollès. Throughout the summer, joint actions will be carried out with the Natural Park to improve the visitor experience, highlighting the flora and fauna landscape of the area.

 

As for restaurant services, this summer season the La Portella Bar Cafeteria, located at the foot of the slopes, and the Vallter Foodtruck, which is located in the Ski Lift area and is ideal for hikers, trail runners, will be open to the public. and cyclists charge their batteries. As for Les Marmotes, one of the cafes located at the highest altitude in Catalonia, it will remain closed for renovations.
