Once again, the Salomon Ultra Pirineu, one of the most important international trail running competitions, arrives in La Molina.

The competition, with a large part of the route between the counties of Berguedà and Cerdanya, will be held on the weekend of October 4 to 6. For this reason, the Girona station will extend the hours of the Cadí-Moixeró Cable Car and, in this way, anyone who wants to can go up to the Niu de l'Àliga to cheer on the runners. Friday, October 4, the ski lift will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and the ticket office will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Saturday 5, and the day on which the Ultra and the Marathon will be contested, the opening of the Cable Car will be from 5.45 to 10.00 a.m., with ticket offices open to purchase these tickets from 5.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. Then it will continue with the normal schedule, from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The participation of around 2,000 runners is expected, since the organization, maintaining the decision taken in recent years, has limited the numbers to minimize the impact on the Cadí Moixeró Natural Park. 1,200 bib numbers have been prepared for the Ultra and Marathon distances, 900 for the Half and 200 for the Nit Pirineu.

Berguedà and Cerdanya are preparing to host this important event, which has proven to have a very significant sporting and economic impact on the territory in a few months of low attendance in the high mountains. With the 15th edition of the Salomon Ultra Pyrenees, FGC reinforces its commitment to put the Catalan Pyrenees on the international map of sporting events.

The races

The trail running test par excellence of the Catalan Pyrenees will have the following modalities:

• La Molina Nit Pirineu KV®: The competition will start with the Vertical Kilometer on Friday 4 October at 6.30 pm and will mark the start of the Salomon Ultra Pirineu. This night-time vertical race, which takes place entirely in La Molina, has 860 meters of positive gradient and covers a distance of 5 kilometers between the base of the Telecabina and the Niu de l’Àliga refuge (2,537 m).
  
  
• Salomon Ultra Pirineu 100K®: On the 5th and 6th of October, the main event will be held, starting and finishing in Bagà. With 100 kilometers and 6,600 meters of positive gradient, the participants will travel through a spectacular landscape, passing through high mountain sections of the Cadí Moixeró Natural Park. It is one of the most demanding and international races, as it brings together runners from around fifty countries.
  
  
• Salomon Marató Pirineu 42K®: The second part of Saturday presents the Marató Pirineu 42k®, with this classic distance and 2,700 meters of positive gradient. The test will take place from 9.00 a.m. and will pass, among other places, through unique corners of La Molina.
  
  
• Salomon Mitja Pirineu 21K®: On Sunday 6 October, the Mitja Pirineu 21k® will lead participants from Bagà to Pedraforca, passing through places such as Serra d'Ensija and Comabona. This test is part of the Golden Trail National Series Spain-Portugal 2024 circuit.
  
  
• Salomon Junior Pirineu 12k®: This edition is the birth of a new distance aimed at young people between 16 and 20 years old. With 12 kilometers and 920 meters of positive gradient, the youngest race in the family will debut in Bagà on Saturday, October 5.
