The space, located at an altitude of 2,535 meters, has been expanded with a new dining room and a new terrace, each measuring around 50 square meters, and the kitchen has also been renovated and expanded.

The project took into account that the aesthetics were respectful of the environment and that the new equipment was energy efficient.

The Vallter mountain resort, owned by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), is opening a new gastronomic space this season, resulting from the renovation and expansion of the old Les Marmotes cafeteria building, now converted into a brasserie to enjoy a new gastronomic offer at the highest point of the station, at 2,535 meters. The new space has a dining room and a new terrace, each measuring about 50 square meters, as well as a new, expanded kitchen. The president of FGC, Carles Ruiz Novella, visited this new gastronomic space today, accompanied by the manager of Vallter, Enric Serra, and the director of FGC Turisme, Toni Sanmartí.

The renovation of the old cafeteria building into the new Les Marmotes Brasserie has had as its main objective the updating of the gastronomic offer in the Ripolla mountain resort, following Ferrocarrils' commitment to diversifying and deseasonalizing the offer in its mountain resorts and offering activities beyond the winter season, as highlighted by the president of FGC: “We will increasingly stop talking about ski resorts and talk about mountain resorts with the aim of offering activities every day of the year, which should allow us to stabilize tourist demand, while fixing the population and jobs. We want to enhance our role in serving the territory”.

The new Marmotes brasserie has been built with an aesthetic that respects the environment. In front of the current building, a new body has been built entirely of wood, which now houses the new dining room from where you can observe the splendid views of the outside landscape, the balcony of the Costa Brava, through large stained glass windows that also open onto a new and large terrace also paved with wood. In the lower part of the side facades, walls have been formed with local stone. The roof is completely new, made of wood and with the appropriate thermal insulation for the high mountains. This privileged place in the Pyrenees can be enjoyed from both the inside and the outside.

The work has also included the comprehensive rehabilitation of the bar and toilet area, as well as the complete renovation of the body intended for the kitchen, which has been expanded to create a larger and higher one. The new kitchen equipment is energy efficient and modern.

As for the furniture, it has been completely changed and completely new elements have been placed in accordance with the mountain character of the ski resort bar, and following the line of the furniture of the restaurant of the same resort. The heating system is by aerothermal.

Vallter, the most Mediterranean resort

Vallter is the most Mediterranean of the mountain resorts in the Catalan Pyrenees. From its highest point, at 2,535 meters above sea level, on clear days you can enjoy the view as far as the Costa Brava. This resort is nestled in a unique environment of incomparable beauty, in the middle of the glacial cirque of Morens-Ull de Ter, at more than 2,000 meters above sea level and is the gateway to the Natural Park of the Ter and Freser Headwaters.

The Vallter ski area extends for 13.9 kilometers, with 13 alpine skiing and snowboarding routes, as well as three freeride itineraries and four ski mountaineering and snowshoeing routes. In addition, the resort has a sledding area in the central core, perfect for the little ones to have fun playing in the snow.

In addition to the new Les Marmotes brasserie, Vallter has two more catering points: the Cafeteria-Restaurant la Portella and the Foodtruck.
