Thanks to this installation, people with support needs in the bathroom will be able to enjoy the high mountains in better hygiene and health conditions.
The resort presents a package of new features that improve accessibility for all people.
Vallter becomes the third ski and mountain resort in the world to install an inclusive permanent changing station, after Boí Taüll did so last March and Vall de Núria in April. It is also the third space of its kind in Catalonia and the fourth in the entire Spanish State.
The opening ceremony took place this morning with the presence of the president of FGC, Antoni Segarra i Barreto, the technical head of FGC Turisme, Rubén Domínguez, and the director of the Association for the Coordination of Inclusive Changers, Eriz Delgado. The Fundació MAP will also attend, an entity that works so that people with disabilities or in vulnerable situations who live in Ripollès enjoy the same opportunities to develop a full, autonomous and inclusive life.
This inclusive changing table, located at the base of the station, is a space where older people, people with functional diversity, chronic illnesses or reduced mobility will have specific hygiene equipment and comfortable space for their companions. In this way, the experience in the high mountains is improved for all people, including those with special needs.
The new facility has a space of 15 m2 and has all the basic elements to guarantee maximum comfort and cleanliness: a height-adjustable stretcher, a lift, a height-adjustable toilet, a shower, a privacy divider, a mirror entire body with a curtain that can be opened and closed depending on needs, as well as recycling bins and a sanitary device for people with an ostomy.
